The elusive bacteria of the South Ferry station

The station with the most unique bacteria was the South Ferry Station on the ‘‘1’’ subway line in Manhattan. This was the only station completely flooded during Hurricane Sandy in 2012, healing and it has been closed since that time. Notably, price we observe ten unique species of bacteria that were present in the single flooded station and were not present in any of the other MTA stations or other samples.

Push the microbes around with your mouse to see their names!
